History

The history of the First Church in Malden provides a lens for learning about the history of the city of Malden, about the history of the Congregational church and the UCC denomination, and about New England history. First Church was the original church and meetinghouse of the English settlers of Malden, beginning in 1649, the year the city was founded. While the building that we worship in today is the eighth church building for First Church, the congregation has a continuous history of 360 years of worship, service and fellowship.
